The lodge is named after the albida tree (also known locally as the musangu or umpumbu), which is revered for its resilience and its role in maintaining a balanced ecosystem. Unlike other regional trees, it sheds its leaves in the rainy season and blooms in the dry season, enriching the soil and providing highly nutritious seed pods for local wildlife.
The lodge demonstrates a commitment to the environment through careful water management, a new solar project aiming for energy independence by 2027, and the reclamation of valuable resources like the historic Gwayi tiles.
